The Big Tease (1999)

"Just something I threw together. I call it... Braveheart meets Liberace."
Scottish hairdresser Crawford Mackenzie (Craig Ferguson, who also co-wrote the script) heads off to Los Angeles for the Platinum Scissors Hairdressing Competition with a BBC documentarian (Chris Langham) who is filming Mackenzie's adventure.

Once in LA and staying at a posh hotel he thought was paid for by the sponsors of the competition, Mackenzie discovers that he's not been invited to compete but rather to sit in the audience. Determined to compete, Mackenzie sets about to do whatever it takes to be given a station in the competition.

Others in the cast include Larry Miller as the hotel manager, Donal Logue as the limo driver, Frances Fisher as the woman who must be persuaded to help Mackenzie get into the competition, and cameo moments include Drew Carey, Ted McGinley, Sara Gilbert, Cathy Lee Crosby, Bruce Jenner, José Eber, David Hasselhoff.

Directed by Kevin Allen.
