When NYC attorney Sofia Kowalski (Amanda Peet) wants to be a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her first child, her slacker cook husband Tom Reilly (Zach Braff) feels he's ready to stand up to the plate to take care of his family. Instead of getting the promotion he expected, he gets fired. So Sofia can stay home with the baby, Tom agrees to move to Sofia's hometown in Ohio where her parents (Charles Grodin, Mia Farrow) can help them out and Tom can work at her father's ad agency.
Tom is assigned to learn the business from Chip Sanders (Jason Bateman) who happens to be Sofia's high school boyfriend. Chip sets about to make Tom's work life a nightmare hoping Tom will fail again so Chip can swoop in and capture Sofia's heart.
Also appearing are Donal Logue, Amy Poehler and Fred Armisen.
While there are some clever spots, this film plays out fairly predictably.
