When newspaper publisher Jack Forrester (Jeff Bridges) is accused of murdering his heiress wife, attorney Teddy Barnes (Glenn Close), defends him even though she hasn't handled a criminal case in years. As she works the case, Teddy begins to fall for Jack.
Peter Coyote plays the prosecutor Krasny; Guy Boyd as Teddy's ex-husband Matthew; John Dehner as Judge arrigan; Leigh Taylor-Young as the late Mrs. Forester's best friend Virginia Howell; and Robert Loggia as Teddy's friend, a former cop who does some private investigation on the case.
Taut courtroom mystery with a powerful ending.
