Pushing Tin (1999)

.
"You land a million planes safely, then you have one little midair and you never hear the end of it."
When air traffic controller Russell Bell (Billy Bob Thornton) transfers to the NYC area from Colorado, a one-upsmanship match begins between Bell and Nick "The Zone" Falzone (John Cusack), the self-proclaimed king of the tower. Bell is quiet but has a reputation as of recklessness while Falzone is cocky and precise.

In short order, the competition leads to the bedroom when Falzone has an affair with Bell's exotic wife Mary (
Angelina Jolie) thus compromising his own marriage to Connie (Cate Blanchett).

Also appearing as controllers are are
Jake Weber, Matt Ross, and Vicki Lewis, with Michael Willis as their boss.

Directed by
Mike Newell.

Run time: 2 hours, 4 minutes

Rated R for language and a scene of sexuality.
