After Max (Dan Aykroyd) leaves his wife of 25 years, Grace Beasley (Kathy Bates) travels to London for the funeral of the middle-aged singer, Victor Fox (Jonathan Pryce), she's adored all her life.
There, she meets Dirk Simpson (Rupert Everett) plus Fox's three sisters and brother-in-law (Lynn Redgrave, Stephanie Beacham, Marcia Warren, Richard Briers) and learns that Simpson was Fox's lover. Denied by Fox's family, Grace eventually believes it and convinces Simpson to come back to Chicago with her to figure out who murdered the singer.
Others in the cast include Meredith Eaton as Grace's abrasive and anxiety-prone former sister-in-law, Peter Sarsgaard as the window washer, and cameo appearances by Julie Andrews and Barry Manilow.
Co-written and directed by P.J. Hogan.
