.
Actress Myrtle Gordon (Gena Rowlands) is having a mental breakdown just as the new play she is in is finishing its run in New Haven and preparing to debut on Broadway. Not coping well with aging, she also feels she is being haunted and taunted by the ghost of a young fan (Laura Johnson) who was struck and killed by a car while pursuing Myrtle.
John Cassavetes, who also wrote and directed this film, appears as Myrtle's leading man in the play, Ben Gazzara is the play's director,
Joan Blondell and Paul Stewart are the play's producers. Peter Bogdanovich, Seymour Cassel, and Peter Falk appear briefly in cameo roles.
Run time: 2 hours, 24 minutes
Rated PG-13
My personal rating: B-
