The Interpreter (2005)

.
"Vengeance is a lazy form of grief."

"The situation in Matobo has now become critical. With Ajene xola in hiding and Kuman-Kuman in exile, Edmond Zuwanie has few domestic obstacles to his policy of ethnic cleansing."

United Nations interpreter Silvia Broome (Nicole Kidman) accidentally overhears details of a plot to assassinate a high-ranking government official. Secret Service agents (Sean Penn, Catherine Keener) are sent to protect her when it becomes apparent that the possible instigators of the potential assassination have discovered that Silvia may be able to reveal the plot.

But does Silvie have her own agenda?

Also appearing are Sydney Pollack (who also directed this film) as a Secret Service official; Earl Cameron as Zuwanie, the corrupt leader of Matobo; Yvan Attal as a photographer who has come from Matobo with information for Silvie; Hugo Speer as Silvie's brother Hugo.

Run time: 2 hours, 9 minutes

Rated PG-13 for violence, some sexual content and brief strong language.

My personal rating: B
