The Madness of King George (1994)

.
"If a few ramshackle colonists in America can send him packing, why can't we?"

King George III (Nigel Hawthorne) really was quite mad. Later believed to be a metabolic disorder causing dementia, his bizarre ways certainly meant a great deal of unhappiness and debate in England of the late 18th century.

Helen Mirren portrays George's long-suffering Queen Charlotte. Ian Holm plays the King's doctor and Rupert Everett appears as the Prince of Wales. Geoffrey Palmer and Rupert Graves are also in the cast.

Directed by Nicholas Hytner.

Run time: 1 hour, 47 minutes

Rated PG-13 for thematic elements.

My personal rating: B
